Professor Ghiasi’s research is in the broad area of computer engineering, with an emphasis on system-level design and optimization of embedded systems for emerging application domains, such as artificial intelligence and smart health. Specific topics of contribution include: wearable systems for non-invasive health monitoring; machine intelligence for devices at the edge of the cloud; modeling, analysis and optimization of cyber-physical systems. The research area offers an interesting blend of theory and practice, and finds applications in many disciplines ranging from medicine and agriculture to disaster response and defense.
His UC Noyce Initiative project is “ACE: Accurate, Computationally Enhanced and Equitable Intrapartum Fetal Monitoring.”
