Funding Opportunities

UC Noyce Initiative: Funding Opportunities

The UC Noyce Initiative provides research seed funding within the Initiative’s key focus areas for bold ideas with significant potential for broader impacts for the public good.

The Initiative currently supports only researchers from the following UC campuses

  • UC Berkeley,
  • UC Davis,
  • UC Irvine,
  • UC San Francisco and
  • UC Santa Barbara.

The UC Noyce Initiative awards multi-campus fellowships to accelerate research and learning in the following research areas:

  • Cybersecurity and AI
  • Computational Health
  • Quantum Information Science

The UC Noyce Initiative intends to support research efforts that are innovative, have the potential for high-impact,= and hold a strong promise for follow-on funding. The UC Noyce Initiative is particularly interested in supporting high-risk, high-reward research that typically does not qualify for traditional or federal funding agencies.

Through these awards, the Initiative aims to elevate and synergize the strengths and resources across the five UC campuses and to foster collaborative research projects that are focused on advancing digital innovation for public good.
