Hersh Bhargava combines mathematics, computer science, and biology, with a focus on the infusion of mathematical abstraction and computational simulation. His doctoral research lies in developing methods for reprogramming cells to perform therapeutic functions and create living therapies for cancer and other complex diseases. He employs mathematical models and computational simulations to elucidate the design principles for such synthetic ‘program’s for cells. He is working towards his Ph.D. in biophysics with a designated emphasis in complex biological systems from UCSF. He received his B.A. in molecular and cell biology from UC Berkeley.
