Fahim Anjum’s interdisciplinary research unites two strands of significant inquiry on Parkinson’s disease: developing an efficient approach for detection using EEG and local field potentials, and proposing a computational model of the Cortico-Basal-Ganglia loop to analytically understand the role of adaptive brain stimulation in Parkinson's diseas. Anjum plans to become a computational neuroscientist utilizing modern machine learning and signal processing techniques to develop better diagnostic tools and treatments for brain disorders. He also plans to decode neural population signals in real time and extend this to develop a new optimization scheme for closed loop adaptive brain stimulation for sleep in Parkinson's diseas. He received his Ph.D. and B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Iowa.
